Products that work for me
Cabellas Cot Tent

This is a good tent for when you're camping in a different spot each night. It's fast and easy to set up and provides a good night's sleep.

No-Rinse Bathing Wipes

There are 8 heavy 8" x 8" wet wipes in a reseable package. A full bath can be obtained using all 8 wipes. The package lists the body parts to be cleaned with each wipe: #1 Face, Neck, Chest, #2 Left Arm, etc. These were developed for convalescent care but are also good for camping.

No-Rinse Shampoo (used on the Space Shuttle)

Ready to use, no water needed. Apply, lather, towel dry.

A No-Rinse Body Bath is also available but it's a concentrate that needs to be mixed with water. The No-Rinse bathing wipes are a lot more convinient.

Digital Thermometer

I have this hanging on the outside of my Jeep. From the reviews on Amazon:
- don't go swimming with it
- the compass doesn't work very well.

High/Low Thermometer

I put this outside my tent at night so the next morning I know how cold it got. It records current, min & max temperatures, current, min & max humidity. It also: shows moon phases, warns of severe weather, is an alarm clock and a calendar.

Hot Water Meals--Hormel Compleats

These are available in most grocery stores but usually you'll find less than 10 of the 25+ varieties. These lunch size portions take 90 seconds in a microwave but the package also has directions for heating in boiling water for 8-9 minutes. In general these are tasty, one of the choices is Dinty Moore Beef Stew which is much better than the canned version. The timing isn't that critical--I've left them in for 15 minutes with no noticable difference. Check around before you buy, I've paid anywhere from less than $2 to more than $3 for them. Since they are not a full meal for a 200 lb male, I eat them with carrot sticks or chips, etc. There's no cleanup--just throw away the plastic bowl.

Hot Water Meals--Tasty Bite (Thai and Indian meals)

Some of these such as the Yellow Curry, Vegetables & Jasmine Rice and Beans Masala & Basmati Rice (separate foil pouches) are a full meal. Many of the others are labeled as soups that can be made into a meal by adding rice. Tasty Bite sells a Long Grain Rice foil pouch that contains enough rice for 2-3 people. They also have a selection of Rice Pilafs--but I don't care for the several that I''ve tried. Tasty Bite products can be hard to find in grocery stores--I've ordered mine from their Web site. The packages suggest boiling for 5 minutes. You'll have to provide your own bowl with these but the foil pouches take up little room in your trash.

Coffee--Toddy Cafe

A quart of concentrate costs about $10 and makes 32 eight ounce cups of coffee. The concentrate needs to be kept refrigerated or frozen. It tastes much better than instant but is just as easy to use.

Cardboard Toilet

It's cardboard, folds flat, and supports 275 pounds. It only takes a minute to set up or refold. The waste bags that come with the toilet are a joke. You'll want to use it with the WAG bags below. This used to be known as the Outback Pack

GottaGoToilet
Wag Bags

Each waste kit includes:, a waste collection bag preloaded wiith Poo Powder waste treatment, toilet paper, a hand sanitizer and a zip-close transport bag.  The Poo Powder waste treatment treats up to 32 ounces of liquid and solid waste. It turns liquid waste to a solid for hygenic and spillproof transport. The Poo Powder controls odors and contains a decay catalyst that breaks down solid waste. The kits are biodegradable and approved for landfill disposal.
-- the above taken and edited from their Web site.

"Control odor" does not mean prevent odor--the used sealed bags smell for several days until the powder breaks down the solid waste. I put used bags into an O.P. Sak odor control bag (see below) and store it in an ammo can. The odor control bag can be reused indefinitely after airing it out for a day or two when you get home.
